Federico Belli

Research Fellow

Heriot-Watt University

Federico is a physicist graduated at Sapienza University of Rome, under the supervision of Prof. Claudio Conti and Prof. Giancarlo Ruocco. He gained numerical and hands-on experience in ultrafast optics and physics with gas-filled hollow-core micro-structured fibers at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light in Erlangen in the division of Prof. Philip St.J. Russell. He demonstrated the first (resonant) dispersive wave generation and supercontinuum generation in the VUV and applied it to ARPES. He enjoyed working on complex coherent dynamics in molecular gases. In Erlangen, he met John C. Travers, joined him and the HISOL project from scratch, in 2016 at Heriot-Watt University. In 2021, Federico has been awarded a Royal Society of Engineering Fellowship (Tenure Track).
